Worked as Staff Scientist and Assistant Professor at The Scripps Research Institute, and Lecturer and Associate Professor at Kyoto University Graduate School of Medicine. Joined Aichi Cancer Center as Chief of Division of Molecular Pathology in December 2010. Became Visiting Professor at Nagoya University Graduate School of Medicine and Nagoya City University Graduate School for Pharmaceutical Sciences in 2014. The Division name was changed to Division of Pathophysiology in 2018 along with reorganization of the institute. Assigned as Vice Director of Aichi Cancer Center Research Institute in 2021.
Research fields
(1) Clarifying roles of the tumor microenvironment in cancer formation and progression; (2) Elucidating the molecular mechanisms of metastasis; and (3) Unraveling the pathophysiology of cancer cachexia.
Message
The focus of my research has shifted from the study of oncogenic signaling pathways using cultured cells to the pathogenesis of solid tumors using mouse models. I intend to identify novel molecular targets for the prevention and/or therapy of cancer through careful analyses of tumor progression in genetically engineered mouse models of cancer, followed by evaluation of the findings using clinical samples. I welcome applications for postdoctoral and graduate research in our laboratory.
